The `recode' library converts files between character sets and usages. The library recognises or produces nearly 150 different character sets and is able to transliterate files between almost any pair. When exact transliteration are not possible, it may get rid of the offending characters or fall back on approximations. Most RFC 1345 character sets are supported.

Handy Yum Commands for recode-devel


Control the recode-devel package with the following handy commands outlined below.

yum install recode-devel

This command will install recode-devel on the server.

yum remove recode-devel

This command will un-install recode-devel on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove recode-devel, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove recode-devel

This command will un-install recode-devel on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove recode-devel when using the -y flag.

yum update recode-devel

This command will update recode-devel to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove recode-devel, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update recode-devel

This command will update recode-devel to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove recode-devel when using the -y flag.
