Celestia is a real-time space simulation which lets you experience the universe in three dimensions. Celestia does not confine you to the surface of the Earth, it allows you to travel throughout the solar system, to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy. Travel in Celestia is seamless; the exponential zoom feature lets you explore space across a huge range of scales, from galaxy clusters down to spacecraft only a few meters across. A 'point-and-goto' interface makes it simple to navigate through the universe to the object you want to visit.

Handy Yum Commands for celestia


Control the celestia package with the following handy commands outlined below.

Description of Command

yum install celestia

This command will install celestia on the server.

yum remove celestia

This command will un-install celestia on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove celestia, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove celestia

This command will un-install celestia on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove celestia when using the -y flag.

yum update celestia

This command will update celestia to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove celestia, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update celestia

This command will update celestia to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove celestia when using the -y flag.

yum info celestia

This command will show you core information about the celestia package.

yum deplist celestia
