Description:

cronolog is a simple filter program that reads log file entries from standard input and writes each entry to the output file specified by a filename template and the current date and time. When the expanded filename changes, the current file is closed and a new one opened. cronolog is intended to be used in conjunction with a Web server, such as Apache, to split the access log into daily or monthly logs.

Handy Yum Commands for cronolog


Control the cronolog package with the following handy commands outlined below.

Description of Command

yum install cronolog

This command will install cronolog on the server.

yum remove cronolog

This command will un-install cronolog on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove cronolog, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove cronolog

This command will un-install cronolog on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove cronolog when using the -y flag.

yum update cronolog

This command will update cronolog to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove cronolog, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update cronolog

This command will update cronolog to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove cronolog when using the -y flag.

yum info cronolog

This command will show you core information about the cronolog package.

yum deplist cronolog
