The ddpt utility is a variant of the standard Unix command dd which copies files. The ddpt utility specializes in files that are block devices. For block devices that understand the SCSI command set, finer grain control over the copy may be available via a SCSI pass-through interface. Note that recent (S)ATA disks can often be driven by SCSI commands due to SCSI to ATA translation (SAT) implemented in the kernel.

Control the ddpt package with the following handy commands outlined below.
yum install ddpt
This command will install ddpt on the server.
yum remove ddpt
This command will un-install ddpt on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove ddpt, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.
yum -y remove ddpt
This command will un-install ddpt on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove ddpt when using the -y flag.
