Description:

Drush is a command line shell and Unix scripting interface for Drupal. If you are unfamiliar with shell scripting, reviewing the documentation for your shell (e.g. man bash) or reading an online tutorial (e.g. search for "bash tutorial") will help you get the most out of Drush. Drush core ships with lots of useful commands for interacting with code like modules/themes/profiles. Similarly, it runs update.php, executes sql queries and DB migrations, and misc utilities like run cron or clear cache.

Handy Yum Commands for drush


Control the drush package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install drush

This command will install drush on the server.

yum remove drush

This command will un-install drush on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove drush, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove drush

This command will un-install drush on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove drush when using the -y flag.

yum update drush

This command will update drush to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove drush, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update drush

This command will update drush to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove drush when using the -y flag.

yum info drush

This command will show you core information about the drush package.

yum deplist drush

This command will show you the dependencies for drush. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update drush

This command will check if there is an update waiting on drush. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
