Description:

Epylog is a new log notifier and parser which runs periodically out of cron, looks at your logs, processes the entries in order to present them in a more comprehensive format, and then provides you with the output. It is written specifically with large network clusters in mind where a lot of machines (around 50 and upwards) log to the same loghost using syslog or syslog-ng.

Handy Yum Commands for epylog


Control the epylog package with the following handy commands outlined below.

Description of Command

yum install epylog

This command will install epylog on the server.

yum remove epylog

This command will un-install epylog on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove epylog, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove epylog

This command will un-install epylog on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove epylog when using the -y flag.

yum update epylog

This command will update epylog to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove epylog, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update epylog

This command will update epylog to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove epylog when using the -y flag.

yum info epylog

This command will show you core information about the epylog package.

yum deplist epylog
