Description:

Florence is an extensible scalable virtual keyboard for GNOME. You need it if you can't use a real hardware keyboard, for example because you are disabled, your keyboard is broken or because you use a tablet PC, but you must be able to use a pointing device (as a mouse, a trackball or a touchscreen). Florence stays out of your way when you don't need it: it appears on the screen only when you need it. A Timer-based auto-click functionality is available to help disabled people having difficulties to click.

Handy Yum Commands for florence


Control the florence package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install florence

This command will install florence on the server.

yum remove florence

This command will un-install florence on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove florence, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove florence

This command will un-install florence on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove florence when using the -y flag.

yum update florence

This command will update florence to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove florence, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update florence

This command will update florence to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove florence when using the -y flag.

yum info florence

This command will show you core information about the florence package.

yum deplist florence

This command will show you the dependencies for florence. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.
