Description:

This little Perl script tries to detect if it is called from within a virtualization container. This is detected by looking for well known boot messages, directories and reading DMI (Desktop Management Interface) data. The following containers are detected: * Virtual PC/Virtual Server * VirtualBox * VMware * QEMU/KVM (experimental) * Xen (para and non-para virtualized) * OpenVZ/Virtuozzo * UML * any HVM providing CPUID 0x40000000 detection

Handy Yum Commands for imvirt


Control the imvirt package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install imvirt

This command will install imvirt on the server.

yum remove imvirt

This command will un-install imvirt on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove imvirt, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove imvirt

This command will un-install imvirt on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove imvirt when using the -y flag.

yum update imvirt

This command will update imvirt to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove imvirt, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update imvirt
