Description:

IPwatchD is a simple daemon that analyses all incoming ARP packets in order to detect IP conflicts on Linux. It can be configured to listen on one or more interfaces (alias interfaces are also supported) in active or passive mode. In active mode IPwatchD protects your host before IP takeover by answering Gratuitous ARP requests received from conflicting system. In passive mode it just records information about conflict through standard syslog interface.

Handy Yum Commands for ipwatchd


Control the ipwatchd package with the following handy commands outlined below.

yum install ipwatchd

This command will install ipwatchd on the server.

yum remove ipwatchd

This command will un-install ipwatchd on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove ipwatchd, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove ipwatchd

This command will un-install ipwatchd on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove ipwatchd when using the -y flag.

yum update ipwatchd

This command will update ipwatchd to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove ipwatchd, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update ipwatchd

This command will update ipwatchd to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove ipwatchd when using the -y flag.

This command will show you core information about the ipwatchd package.
