Description:

The Local Centre MAPping Service (LCMAPS) is a security middleware component that processes the users Grid credentials (typically X.509 proxy certificates and VOMS attributes) and maps the user to a local account based on the site local policy. It is a highly configurable pluggable interface, and many plugins are available to tailor almost every need. Since this is middleware, it does not interact with the user directly; to use it in a program please see the lcmaps-interface package.

Handy Yum Commands for lcmaps


Control the lcmaps package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install lcmaps

This command will install lcmaps on the server.

yum remove lcmaps

This command will un-install lcmaps on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove lcmaps, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove lcmaps

This command will un-install lcmaps on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove lcmaps when using the -y flag.

yum update lcmaps

This command will update lcmaps to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove lcmaps, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update lcmaps

This command will update lcmaps to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove lcmaps when using the -y flag.

yum info lcmaps

This command will show you core information about the lcmaps package.

yum deplist lcmaps

This command will show you the dependencies for lcmaps. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update lcmaps

This command will check if there is an update waiting on lcmaps. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
