Description:

Libnids is an implementation of an E-component of Network Intrusion Detection System. It emulates the IP stack of Linux 2.x and offers IP defragmentation, TCP stream assembly and TCP port scan detection. Using libnids, one has got a convenient access to data carried by a TCP stream, no matter how artfully obscured by an attacker.

Handy Yum Commands for libnids


Control the libnids package with the following handy commands outlined below.

yum install libnids

This command will install libnids on the server.

yum remove libnids

This command will un-install libnids on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove libnids, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove libnids

This command will un-install libnids on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove libnids when using the -y flag.

yum update libnids

This command will update libnids to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove libnids, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update libnids

This command will update libnids to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove libnids when using the -y flag.

yum info libnids

This command will show you core information about the libnids package.
