This package contains a new implementation of the original libtirpc, transport-independent RPC (TI-RPC) library for NFS-Ganesha. It has the following features not found in libtirpc: 1. Bi-directional operation 2. Full-duplex operation on the TCP (vc) transport 3. Thread-safe operating modes 3.1 new locking primitives and lock callouts (interface change) 3.2 stateless send/recv on the TCP transport (interface change) 4. Flexible server integration support 5. Event channels (remove static arrays of xprt handles, new EPOLL/KEVENT integration)

Handy Yum Commands for libntirpc


Control the libntirpc package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install libntirpc

This command will install libntirpc on the server.

yum remove libntirpc

This command will un-install libntirpc on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove libntirpc, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove libntirpc

This command will un-install libntirpc on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove libntirpc when using the -y flag.

yum update libntirpc

This command will update libntirpc to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove libntirpc, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update libntirpc

This command will update libntirpc to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove libntirpc when using the -y flag.

yum info libntirpc

This command will show you core information about the libntirpc package.

yum deplist libntirpc

This command will show you the dependencies for libntirpc. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update libntirpc

This command will check if there is an update waiting on libntirpc. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
