Description:

The traits package developed by Enthought provides a special type definition called a trait. Although they can be used as normal Python object attributes, traits also have several additional characteristics: * Initialization: A trait can be assigned a default value. * Validation: A trait attribute's type can be explicitly declared. * Delegation: The value of a trait attribute can be contained either in another object. * Notification: Setting the value of a trait attribute can trigger notification of other parts of the program. * Visualization: User interfaces that permit the interactive modification of a trait's value can be automatically constructed using the trait's definition.

Handy Yum Commands for python-Traits


Control the python-Traits package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install python-Traits

This command will install python-Traits on the server.

yum remove python-Traits

This command will un-install python-Traits on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove python-Traits, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove python-Traits

This command will un-install python-Traits on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove python-Traits when using the -y flag.

yum update python-Traits

This command will update python-Traits to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove python-Traits, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update python-Traits

This command will update python-Traits to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove python-Traits when using the -y flag.

yum info python-Traits

This command will show you core information about the python-Traits package.

yum deplist python-Traits

This command will show you the dependencies for python-Traits. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update python-Traits

This command will check if there is an update waiting on python-Traits. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
