This is the universally unique ID development library and headers, part of util-linux-ng. The libuuid library generates and parses 128-bit universally unique id's (UUID's). A UUID is an identifier that is unique across both space and time, with respect to the space of all UUIDs. A UUID can be used for multiple purposes, from tagging objects with an extremely short lifetime, to reliably identifying very persistent objects across a network. Control the libuuid-devel package with the following handy commands outlined below.
yum install libuuid-devel
This command will install libuuid-devel on the server.
yum remove libuuid-devel
This command will un-install libuuid-devel on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove libuuid-devel, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.
yum -y remove libuuid-devel
This command will un-install libuuid-devel on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove libuuid-devel when using the -y flag.
yum update libuuid-devel
This command will update libuuid-devel to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove libuuid-devel, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.
