bdftruncate allows one to generate from an ISO10646-1 encoded BDF font other ISO10646-1 BDF fonts in which all characters above a threshold code value are stored unencoded. This is often desirable because the Xlib API and X11 protocol data structures used for representing font metric information are extremely inefficient when handling sparsely populated fonts.

Handy Yum Commands for bdftruncate


Control the bdftruncate package with the following handy commands outlined below.

Description of Command

yum install bdftruncate

This command will install bdftruncate on the server.

yum remove bdftruncate

This command will un-install bdftruncate on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove bdftruncate, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove bdftruncate

This command will un-install bdftruncate on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove bdftruncate when using the -y flag.

yum update bdftruncate

This command will update bdftruncate to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove bdftruncate, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update bdftruncate

This command will update bdftruncate to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove bdftruncate when using the -y flag.
