Description:

AUCTeX is an extensible package that supports writing and formatting TeX files for most variants of Emacs. AUCTeX supports many different TeX macro packages, including AMS-TeX, LaTeX, Texinfo and basic support for ConTeXt. Documentation can be found under /usr/share/doc, e.g. the reference card (tex-ref.pdf) and the FAQ. The AUCTeX manual is available in Emacs info (C-h i d m AUCTeX RET). On the AUCTeX home page, we provide manuals in various formats. AUCTeX includes preview-latex support which makes LaTeX a tightly integrated component of your editing workflow by visualizing selected source chunks (such as single formulas or graphics) directly as images in the source buffer. This package is for GNU Emacs.

Handy Yum Commands for emacs-auctex


Control the emacs-auctex package with the following handy commands outlined below.

yum install emacs-auctex

This command will install emacs-auctex on the server.

yum remove emacs-auctex

This command will un-install emacs-auctex on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove emacs-auctex, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove emacs-auctex

This command will un-install emacs-auctex on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove emacs-auctex when using the -y flag.

yum update emacs-auctex

This command will update emacs-auctex to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove emacs-auctex, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update emacs-auctex

This command will update emacs-auctex to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove emacs-auctex when using the -y flag.

yum info emacs-auctex

This command will show you core information about the emacs-auctex package.

yum deplist emacs-auctex

This command will show you the dependencies for emacs-auctex. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update emacs-auctex

This command will check if there is an update waiting on emacs-auctex. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
