Description:

This suite of tools allows you to upload and download programs and data files between a Linux/UNIX machine and the PalmPilot. It has a few extra utilities that will allow for things like syncing the PalmPilot's calendar app with Ical. Note that you might still need to consult the sources for pilot-link if you would like the Python, Tcl, or Perl bindings. Install pilot-link if you want to synchronize your Palm with your Red Hat Linux system.

Handy Yum Commands for pilot-link


Control the pilot-link package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install pilot-link

This command will install pilot-link on the server.

yum remove pilot-link

This command will un-install pilot-link on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove pilot-link, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove pilot-link

This command will un-install pilot-link on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove pilot-link when using the -y flag.

yum update pilot-link

This command will update pilot-link to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove pilot-link, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update pilot-link

This command will update pilot-link to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove pilot-link when using the -y flag.

yum info pilot-link

This command will show you core information about the pilot-link package.

yum deplist pilot-link

This command will show you the dependencies for pilot-link. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update pilot-link

This command will check if there is an update waiting on pilot-link. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
