Description:

pytz brings the Olson tz database into Python. This library allows accurate and cross platform timezone calculations using Python 2.3 or higher. It also solves the issue of ambiguous times at the end of daylight savings, which you can read more about in the Python Library Reference (datetime.tzinfo). Amost all (over 540) of the Olson timezones are supported.

Handy Yum Commands for pytz


Control the pytz package with the following handy commands outlined below.

yum install pytz

This command will install pytz on the server.

yum remove pytz

This command will un-install pytz on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove pytz, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove pytz

This command will un-install pytz on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove pytz when using the -y flag.

yum update pytz

This command will update pytz to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove pytz, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update pytz

This command will show you core information about the pytz package.
