Description:
The `recode' converts files between character sets and usages. It recognises or produces nearly 150 different character sets and is able to transliterate files between almost any pair. When exact transliteration are not possible, it may get rid of the offending characters or fall back on approximations. Most RFC 1345 character sets are supported.

Control the recode package with the following handy commands outlined below.
yum install recode
This command will install recode on the server.
yum remove recode
This command will un-install recode on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove recode, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.
yum -y remove recode
This command will un-install recode on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove recode when using the -y flag.
yum update recode
This command will update recode to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove recode, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.
yum -y update recode

This command will show you core information about the recode package.

This command will check if there is an update waiting on recode. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
