Description:

TeXLive is an implementation of TeX for Linux or UNIX systems. TeX takes a text file and a set of formatting commands as input and creates a printable file as output. Usually, TeX is used in conjunction with a higher level formatting package like LaTeX or PlainTeX, since TeX by itself is not very user-friendly. Install texlive if you want to use the TeX text formatting system. Consider to install texlive-latex (a higher level formatting package which provides an easier-to-use interface for TeX). Handy Yum Commands for texlive


Control the texlive package with the following handy commands outlined below.

yum install texlive

This command will install texlive on the server.

yum remove texlive

This command will un-install texlive on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove texlive, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove texlive

This command will un-install texlive on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove texlive when using the -y flag.

yum update texlive

This command will update texlive to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove texlive, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update texlive
