Description:

DjVu is a web-centric format and software platform for distributing documents and images. DjVu can advantageously replace PDF, PS, TIFF, JPEG, and GIF for distributing scanned documents, digital documents, or high-resolution pictures. DjVu content downloads faster, displays and renders faster, looks nicer on a screen, and consume less client resources than competing formats. DjVu images display instantly and can be smoothly zoomed and panned with no lengthy re-rendering. DjVuLibre is a free (GPL'ed) implementation of DjVu, including viewers, decoders, simple encoders, and utilities. The browser plugin is in its own separate sub-package.

Handy Yum Commands for djvulibre


Control the djvulibre package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install djvulibre

This command will install djvulibre on the server.

yum remove djvulibre

This command will un-install djvulibre on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove djvulibre, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove djvulibre

This command will un-install djvulibre on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove djvulibre when using the -y flag.

yum update djvulibre

This command will update djvulibre to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove djvulibre, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update djvulibre

This command will update djvulibre to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove djvulibre when using the -y flag.

yum info djvulibre

This command will show you core information about the djvulibre package.

yum deplist djvulibre

This command will show you the dependencies for djvulibre. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update djvulibre

This command will check if there is an update waiting on djvulibre. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
