Description:

A collection of tools for network auditing and penetration testing. Dsniff, filesnarf, mailsnarf, msgsnarf, urlsnarf and webspy allow to passively monitor a network for interesting data (passwords, e-mail, files). Arpspoof, dnsspoof and macof facilitate the interception of network traffic normally unavailable to an attacker (e.g, due to layer-2 switching). Sshmitm and webmitm implement active monkey-in-the-middle attacks against redirected SSH and HTTPS sessions by exploiting weak bindings in ad-hoc PKI.

Handy Yum Commands for dsniff


Control the dsniff package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install dsniff

This command will install dsniff on the server.

yum remove dsniff

This command will un-install dsniff on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove dsniff, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove dsniff

This command will un-install dsniff on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove dsniff when using the -y flag.

yum update dsniff

This command will update dsniff to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove dsniff, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update dsniff

This command will update dsniff to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove dsniff when using the -y flag.

yum info dsniff

This command will show you core information about the dsniff package.

yum deplist dsniff

This command will show you the dependencies for dsniff. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update dsniff

This command will check if there is an update waiting on dsniff. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
