Dyninst is an Application Program Interface (API) to permit the insertion of code into a running program. The API also permits changing or removing subroutine calls from the application program. Run-time code changes are useful to support a variety of applications including debugging, performance monitoring, and to support composing applications out of existing packages. The goal of this API is to provide a machine independent interface to permit the creation of tools and applications that use run-time code patching.

Handy Yum Commands for dyninst


Control the dyninst package with the following handy commands outlined below.

yum install dyninst

This command will install dyninst on the server.

yum remove dyninst

This command will un-install dyninst on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove dyninst, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove dyninst

This command will un-install dyninst on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove dyninst when using the -y flag.

yum update dyninst

This command will update dyninst to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove dyninst, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update dyninst
