The fetchlog utility displays the last new messages of a logfile. It is similar like tail (1) but offers some extra functionality for output formatting. To show only the new messages appeared since the last call fetchlog uses a bookmark to remember which messages have been fetched.

Control the fetchlog package with the following handy commands outlined below.
yum install fetchlog
This command will install fetchlog on the server.
yum remove fetchlog
This command will un-install fetchlog on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove fetchlog, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.
yum -y remove fetchlog
This command will un-install fetchlog on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove fetchlog when using the -y flag.
yum update fetchlog
This command will update fetchlog to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove fetchlog, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.
yum -y update fetchlog
