Description:

The software computes all marked reduced Gröbner bases of an ideal. Their union is a universal Gröbner basis. Gfan contains algorithms for computing this complex for general ideals and specialized algorithms for tropical curves, tropical hypersurfaces and tropical varieties of prime ideals. In addition to the above core functions the package contains many tools which are useful in the study of Gröbner bases, initial ideals and tropical geometry. Among these are an interactive traversal program for Gröbner fans and programs for graphical renderings.

Handy Yum Commands for gfan


Control the gfan package with the following handy commands outlined below.

yum install gfan

This command will install gfan on the server.

yum remove gfan

This command will un-install gfan on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove gfan, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove gfan

This command will un-install gfan on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove gfan when using the -y flag.

yum update gfan

This command will update gfan to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove gfan, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update gfan

This command will update gfan to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove gfan when using the -y flag.
