Description:

"Include what you use" means this: for every symbol (type, function, variable, or macro) that you use in foo.cc (or foo.cpp), either foo.cc or foo.h should #include a .h file that exports the declaration of that symbol. The include-what-you-use tool is a program that can be built with the clang libraries in order to analyze #includes of source files to find include-what-you-use violations, and suggest fixes for them.

Handy Yum Commands for iwyu


Control the iwyu package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install iwyu

This command will install iwyu on the server.

yum remove iwyu

This command will un-install iwyu on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove iwyu, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove iwyu

This command will un-install iwyu on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove iwyu when using the -y flag.

yum update iwyu

This command will update iwyu to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove iwyu, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update iwyu

This command will update iwyu to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove iwyu when using the -y flag.

yum info iwyu

This command will show you core information about the iwyu package.

yum deplist iwyu

This command will show you the dependencies for iwyu. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update iwyu

This command will check if there is an update waiting on iwyu. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
