Description:

This package is constructed on top of the MPI-1/MPI-2 specification and provides an object oriented interface which closely follows MPI-2 C++ bindings. It supports point-to-point (sends, receives) and collective (broadcasts, scatters, gathers) communications of any picklable Python object as well as optimized communications of Python object exposing the single-segment buffer interface (NumPy arrays, built-in bytes/string/array objects). This package contains mpi4py compiled against Open MPI.

Description of Command

yum install mpi4py-openmpi

This command will install mpi4py-openmpi on the server.

yum remove mpi4py-openmpi

This command will un-install mpi4py-openmpi on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove mpi4py-openmpi, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove mpi4py-openmpi

This command will un-install mpi4py-openmpi on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove mpi4py-openmpi when using the -y flag.

yum update mpi4py-openmpi

This command will update mpi4py-openmpi to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove mpi4py-openmpi, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update mpi4py-openmpi

This command will update mpi4py-openmpi to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove mpi4py-openmpi when using the -y flag.

yum info mpi4py-openmpi

This command will show you core information about the mpi4py-openmpi package.

yum deplist mpi4py-openmpi

This command will show you the dependencies for mpi4py-openmpi. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update mpi4py-openmpi

This command will check if there is an update waiting on mpi4py-openmpi. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
