Description:
Nagios is a program that will monitor hosts and services on your network. It has the ability to send email or page alerts when a problem arises and when a problem is resolved. Nagios is written in C and is designed to run under Linux (and some other *NIX variants) as a background process, intermittently running checks on various services that you specify. The actual service checks are performed by separate "plugin" programs which return the status of the checks to Nagios. The plugins are available at https://github.com/nagios-plugins/nagios-plugins This package provides the core program, web interface, and documentation files for Nagios. Development files are built as a separate package.

Control the nagios package with the following handy commands outlined below.
yum install nagios
This command will install nagios on the server.
yum remove nagios
This command will un-install nagios on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove nagios, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.
yum -y remove nagios
This command will un-install nagios on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove nagios when using the -y flag.
yum update nagios
This command will update nagios to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove nagios, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.
yum -y update nagios
