Description:

nuttcp is a network performance measurement tool intended for use by network and system managers. Its most basic usage is to determine the raw TCP (or UDP) network layer throughput by transferring memory buffers from a source system across an interconnecting network to a destination system, either transferring data for a specified time interval, or alternatively transferring a specified number of buffers. In addition to reporting the achieved network throughput in Mbps, nuttcp also provides additional useful information related to the data transfer such as user, system, and wall-clock time, transmitter and receiver CPU utilization, and loss percentage (for UDP transfers).

Handy Yum Commands for nuttcp


Control the nuttcp package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install nuttcp

This command will install nuttcp on the server.

yum remove nuttcp

This command will un-install nuttcp on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove nuttcp, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove nuttcp

This command will un-install nuttcp on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove nuttcp when using the -y flag.

yum update nuttcp

This command will update nuttcp to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove nuttcp, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update nuttcp

This command will update nuttcp to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove nuttcp when using the -y flag.

yum info nuttcp

This command will show you core information about the nuttcp package.

yum deplist nuttcp

This command will show you the dependencies for nuttcp. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

This command will check if there is an update waiting on nuttcp. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
