Description:

OpenAL Soft is a cross-platform software implementation of the OpenAL 3D audio API. It's built off of the open-sourced Windows version available originally from the SVN repository at openal.org. OpenAL provides capabilities for playing audio in a virtual 3d environment. Distance attenuation, doppler shift, and directional sound emitters are among the features handled by the API. More advanced effects, including air absorption, low-pass filters, and reverb, are available through the EFX extension. It also facilitates streaming audio, multi-channel buffers, and audio capture.

Handy Yum Commands for openal-soft


Control the openal-soft package with the following handy commands outlined below.

yum install openal-soft

This command will install openal-soft on the server.

yum remove openal-soft

This command will un-install openal-soft on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove openal-soft, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove openal-soft

This command will un-install openal-soft on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove openal-soft when using the -y flag.

yum update openal-soft

This command will update openal-soft to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove openal-soft, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update openal-soft

This command will update openal-soft to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove openal-soft when using the -y flag.

yum info openal-soft

This command will show you core information about the openal-soft package.

yum deplist openal-soft

This command will show you the dependencies for openal-soft. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.
