Alembic is a new database migrations tool, written by the author of `SQLAlchemy <http://www.sqlalchemy.org>`_. A migrations tool offers the following functionality: * Can emit ALTER statements to a database in order to change the structure of tables and other constructs. * Provides a system whereby "migration scripts" may be constructed; each script indicates a particular series of steps that can "upgrade" a target database to a new version, and optionally a series of steps that can "downgrade" similarly, doing the same steps in reverse. * Allows the scripts to execute in some sequential manner. Control the python-alembic package with the following handy commands outlined below.
yum install python-alembic
This command will install python-alembic on the server.
yum remove python-alembic
This command will un-install python-alembic on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove python-alembic, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.
yum -y remove python-alembic
This command will un-install python-alembic on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove python-alembic when using the -y flag.
yum update python-alembic
This command will update python-alembic to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove python-alembic, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.
