Description:

dnspython is a DNS toolkit for Python. It supports almost all record types. It can be used for queries, zone transfers, and dynamic updates. It supports TSIG authenticated messages and EDNS0. dnspython provides both high and low level access to DNS. The high level classes perform queries for data of a given name, type, and class, and return an answer set. The low level classes allow direct manipulation of DNS zones, messages, names, and records.

Handy Yum Commands for python-dns


Control the python-dns package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install python-dns

This command will install python-dns on the server.

yum remove python-dns

This command will un-install python-dns on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove python-dns, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove python-dns

This command will un-install python-dns on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove python-dns when using the -y flag.

yum update python-dns

This command will update python-dns to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove python-dns, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update python-dns

This command will update python-dns to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove python-dns when using the -y flag.

yum info python-dns

This command will show you core information about the python-dns package.

yum deplist python-dns

This command will show you the dependencies for python-dns. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update python-dns

This command will check if there is an update waiting on python-dns. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
