Pyro provides an object-oriented form of RPC. You can use Pyro within a single system but also use it for IPC. For those that are familiar with Java, Pyro resembles Java's Remote Method Invocation (RMI). It is less similar to CORBA - which is a system- and language independent Distributed Object Technology and has much more to offer than Pyro or RMI.

Handy Yum Commands for python-pyro


Control the python-pyro package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install python-pyro

This command will install python-pyro on the server.

yum remove python-pyro

This command will un-install python-pyro on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove python-pyro, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove python-pyro

This command will un-install python-pyro on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove python-pyro when using the -y flag.

yum update python-pyro

This command will update python-pyro to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove python-pyro, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update python-pyro

This command will update python-pyro to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove python-pyro when using the -y flag.

yum info python-pyro

This command will show you core information about the python-pyro package.

yum deplist python-pyro

This command will show you the dependencies for python-pyro. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update python-pyro

This command will check if there is an update waiting on python-pyro. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
