Description:

Rekall is a database front-end, however, Rekall is not itself a database, and does not include a database. By this we mean that data is stored somewhere else in an SQL server, and Rekall is fundementally just a tool to extract, display and update that data (of course, it does lots more than that, it does forms and reports and scripting...). It is database agnostic, and does not have any preferred database (plugins are available for MySQL and PostgreSQL).

Handy Yum Commands for rekall


Control the rekall package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install rekall

This command will install rekall on the server.

yum remove rekall

This command will un-install rekall on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove rekall, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove rekall

This command will un-install rekall on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove rekall when using the -y flag.

yum update rekall

This command will update rekall to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove rekall, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update rekall

This command will update rekall to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove rekall when using the -y flag.

yum info rekall

This command will show you core information about the rekall package.

yum deplist rekall

This command will show you the dependencies for rekall. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update rekall

This command will check if there is an update waiting on rekall. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
