ROXTerm is a terminal emulator intended to provide similar features to gnome-terminal, based on the same VTE library, but with a smaller footprint and quicker start-up time. It achieves this by not using the Gnome libraries and by using a separate applet to provide the configuration GUI. It can be used as a ROX application, as the name implies, or in any other X environment.

Handy Yum Commands for roxterm


Control the roxterm package with the following handy commands outlined below.

yum install roxterm

This command will install roxterm on the server.

yum remove roxterm

This command will un-install roxterm on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove roxterm, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove roxterm

This command will un-install roxterm on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove roxterm when using the -y flag.

yum update roxterm

This command will update roxterm to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove roxterm, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update roxterm

This command will update roxterm to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove roxterm when using the -y flag.

yum info roxterm

This command will show you core information about the roxterm package.

yum deplist roxterm

This command will show you the dependencies for roxterm. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.
