Description:

UDT is a reliable UDP based application level data transport protocol for distributed data intensive applications over wide area high-speed networks. UDT uses UDP to transfer bulk data with its own reliability control and congestion control mechanisms. The new protocol can transfer data at a much higher speed than TCP does. UDT is also a highly configurable framework that can accommodate various congestion control algorithms.

Handy Yum Commands for udt


Control the udt package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install udt

This command will install udt on the server.

yum remove udt

This command will un-install udt on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove udt, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove udt

This command will un-install udt on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove udt when using the -y flag.

yum update udt

This command will update udt to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove udt, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update udt

This command will update udt to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove udt when using the -y flag.

yum info udt

This command will show you core information about the udt package.

yum deplist udt

This command will show you the dependencies for udt. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update udt

This command will check if there is an update waiting on udt. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
