The wmctrl program is a UNIX/Linux command line tool to interact with an EWMH/NetWM compatible X Window Manager. The tool provides command line access to almost all the features defined in the EWMH specification. It can be used, for example, to obtain information about the window manager, to get a detailed list of desktops and managed windows, to switch and resize desktops, to make windows full-screen, always-above or sticky, and to activate, close, move, resize, maximize and minimize them. The command line access to these window management functions makes it easy to automate and execute them from any application that is able to run a command in response to an event.

Control the wmctrl package with the following handy commands outlined below.
yum install wmctrl
This command will install wmctrl on the server.
yum remove wmctrl
This command will un-install wmctrl on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove wmctrl, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.
yum -y remove wmctrl
This command will un-install wmctrl on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove wmctrl when using the -y flag.
yum update wmctrl
This command will update wmctrl to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove wmctrl, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.
yum -y update wmctrl
This command will update wmctrl to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove wmctrl when using the -y flag.

This command will show you core information about the wmctrl package.

This command will check if there is an update waiting on wmctrl. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
