Description:

xCHM is a wxWidgets-based .chm viewer. xCHM can show the contents tree if one is available, print the displayed page, change fonts faces and size, work with bookmarks, do the usual history stunts (forward, back, home), provide a searchable index and seach for text in the whole book. The search is a fast B-tree search, based on the internal $FIftiMain file found inside indexed .chm archives, and it can be customized to search in content or just the topics' titles.

Handy Yum Commands for xchm


Control the xchm package with the following handy commands outlined below.

Description of Command

yum install xchm

This command will install xchm on the server.

yum remove xchm

This command will un-install xchm on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove xchm, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove xchm

This command will un-install xchm on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove xchm when using the -y flag.

yum update xchm

This command will update xchm to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove xchm, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update xchm

This command will update xchm to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove xchm when using the -y flag.

yum info xchm

This command will show you core information about the xchm package.

yum deplist xchm

This command will show you the dependencies for xchm. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update xchm

This command will check if there is an update waiting on xchm. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
