Description:

This library allows to manipulate XML files. It includes support to read, modify and write XML and HTML files. There is DTDs support this includes parsing and validation even with complex DtDs, either at parse time or later once the document has been modified. The output can be a simple SAX stream or and in-memory DOM like representations. In this case one can use the built-in XPath and XPointer implementation to select subnodes or ranges. A flexible Input/Output mechanism is available, with existing HTTP and FTP modules and combined to an URI library.

Handy Yum Commands for libxml2


Control the libxml2 package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

Description of Command

yum install libxml2

This command will install libxml2 on the server.

yum remove libxml2

This command will un-install libxml2 on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove libxml2, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove libxml2

This command will un-install libxml2 on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove libxml2 when using the -y flag.

yum update libxml2

This command will update libxml2 to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove libxml2, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update libxml2

This command will update libxml2 to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove libxml2 when using the -y flag.

yum info libxml2

This command will show you core information about the libxml2 package.

yum deplist libxml2

This command will show you the dependencies for libxml2. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

yum check-update libxml2

This command will check if there is an update waiting on libxml2. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
