Description:

Dstat is a versatile replacement for vmstat, iostat, netstat and ifstat. Dstat overcomes some of their limitations and adds some extra features, more counters and flexibility. Dstat is handy for monitoring systems during performance tuning tests, benchmarks or troubleshooting. Dstat allows you to view all of your system resources instantly, you can eg. compare disk usage in combination with interrupts from your IDE controller, or compare the network bandwidth numbers directly with the disk throughput (in the same interval). Dstat gives you detailed selective information in columns and clearly indicates in what magnitude and unit the output is displayed. Less confusion, less mistakes.

Handy Yum Commands for dstat


Control the dstat package with the following handy commands outlined below.

yum install dstat

This command will install dstat on the server.

yum remove dstat

This command will un-install dstat on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove dstat, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove dstat

This command will un-install dstat on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove dstat when using the -y flag.

yum update dstat

This command will update dstat to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove dstat, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update dstat

This command will update dstat to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove dstat when using the -y flag.

yum info dstat

This command will show you core information about the dstat package.

yum deplist dstat
