Description:

Provides a set of daemons to manage access to remote directories and authentication mechanisms. It provides an NSS and PAM interface toward the system and a pluggable backend system to connect to multiple different account sources. It is also the basis to provide client auditing and policy services for projects like FreeIPA. The sssd subpackage is a meta-package that contains the deamon as well as all the existing back ends.

Handy Yum Commands for sssd


Control the sssd package with the following handy commands outlined below.


Command

yum install sssd

This command will install sssd on the server.

yum remove sssd

This command will un-install sssd on the server. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove sssd, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y remove sssd

This command will un-install sssd on the server. When you run this command with th e -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove sssd when using the -y flag.

yum update sssd

This command will update sssd to the latest version. When you run this command, you will be asked if you are sure that you want to remove sssd, so you have to manually confirm that you want to do this.

yum -y update sssd

This command will update sssd to the latest version. When you run this command with the -y flag, you will not be prompted to check that you are sure you want to remove the package - so be sure you absolutely want to remove sssd when using the -y flag.

yum info sssd

This command will show you core information about the sssd package.

yum deplist sssd

This command will show you the dependencies for sssd. Thankfully, when using Yum, if dependencies are required, these are also installed at the same time so you don't have to worry too much about that.

This command will check if there is an update waiting on sssd. When you run this command this will return nothing if there is nothing to update, or, will return the package name if the package is due to be updated.
